I love week 38 because I LOVE negative space. I’m kind of a “less is more” sort of girl in general and I feel that often comes through in my photography, particularly when shooting still life or landscape. I love the feeling of smallness and isolation negative space can give.
The following image was taken at the Oregon dunes. (Did you know there were massive sand dunes in Oregon? Yeah, sand dunes. How awesome and crazy is that?) I could have gotten closer or I could have tilted the camera up to capture the landscape on opposite the water. Instead I wanted to to really place focus on the two girls and how much sand was present. So I tilted the camera down, shoving the girls toward the top of the frame and including all the sand spanning the distance between myself and them.
