One of the fringe benefits of my job is the ability watch families grow and mature. And I’m not just talking about seeing kids grow up year after year – although that is pretty great. What I really mean is I get the opportunity to step in and watch an entire family unit evolve as a little team because, make no mistake, parenting is a sport with a constantly moving target.
I met this newly minted family of three in the spring of 2016 after they had given birth to their little boy. This past spring I got to meet with them again as little man celebrated his first birthday. We talked about all the things they learned about their son during the course of that first year, some of the challenges they faced, and the little life hacks that all new parents must find when getting to know their kid’s quirks.
There was also cake. And a bath in the sink. And playtime.
Below are highlights from this heartwarming session.
