With little little kids almost everything can become a ritual and becoming privy to those family customs is one of my favorite things about working with families. The routines we, as parents, create – either consciously or out of sheer necessity – become the basis for our kids memories and their understanding home, family, and community.
For this family their Saturday mornings revolve around enjoying their sweet little community in Poulsbo, Washington as well as purposefully wearing out their daughter in preparation for a long mid-day nap. Leaving their home on foot to walk the main street in town, find coffee, spend some time at a couple parks, grab some food a the farmer’s market and then head back home. It’s certainly a weekend ritual that will evolve and change with time but it’s also one that’s bound to leave an impression on every one throughout the years.
