I have a thing with places. Portraits in a studio or a nondescript field are lovely. They really are. But the camera can provide so much more. Memories aren’t only faces, current hairstyles, or chubby baby hands. They include a sense of place. “Do you remember when this restaurant was still in business and we ate there everyday while we remodeled the kitchen?” Or “Do you remember that year we lived in X town?”
So when this darling family contacted me last year and explained that they would be moving cross country and wanted to get some photos documenting some of their favorite spots in our sweet little town of Poulsbo, you know I was completely on board. We walked downtown and made sure to stop and let the kids ogle the giant RV that had been parked in one of the local lots for months. We stopped to grab cookies at the bakery that is a well known establishment here. Then, walked along the waterfront and stopped to play in the park before heading back home.
